My educational path led me through technical, pedagogical, business, management-related, and consulting training to my current work as a freelance supervisor, coach, and consultant. This development continues through the ongoing evolution of my work, with the motto „thinking laterally“ at the center as the guiding principle for my consulting practice.

By combining my different professional experiences with my consulting competence, I can contribute effectively to solving problems and respond to the wishes and goals of clients.

Partner + Zone | Expert in social innovation

Switzerland; as the responsible partner, he leads the +zone research lab and +zoneINSIDE, is an author and speaker, and is sought after for his UX analyses, solution workshops, and lectures.

His main areas of work are social intelligence in digitalization, positive resilience and social innovation, the transformation of work, and healthy performance cultures. The targeted integration of findings from neuroscience, behavioral economics, and evolutionary biology into innovation management, UX design, and solution and culture development describes the by-design approach of +zone research. His personal focus: evolution and creativity in human development.

He studied social sciences, then worked in complexity and stress research and ran a systemic practice; did independent theater and cabaret and produced films, features, collages, and exhibition projects; developed concepts and methods for change-by-design initiatives; and led award-winning performance programs on behalf of international companies and organizations. After intensive years as a facilitator, researcher, and organizational developer with his companies klip AG für Unternehmensentwicklung and skp, personal crises, and other surprises, he started the +zone initiative in 2004. Today, alongside his role as spokesperson of the corporate group and partner for research + facilitation, he works as co-editor of the Flow_Zone EDITION, and as speaker and moderator of the labTalks and nightLectures series.

Memberships and initiatives: IPPA (International Positive Psychology Association) and member of the Institute of HeartMath (IHM). As a Curious Mind + Solution Artist he supports Creative Commons (CC), the OER initiative, Wikipedia, the social-business program, and is a board member of NewWork NewCulture.Networks (Ann Arbor/USA), founded by Prof. Frithjof Bergmann.

Founder of the social think tank `NANK Co:llaboratory` in Vienna.

I met Frithjof in 2004 and accompanied him on many lecture tours for more than ten years. He became my friend and mentor. Within the New Work community, I see myself as someone who first tries to live the New Work approaches as far as possible. I want to make New Work New Culture understandable to as many people as possible and am working especially on making the practice of Community Production usable.

As an innovation partisan for a future-fit world of work, I advise through lectures and workshops. During the years I worked with Frithjof, I designed projects at the interface of science, politics, and technology. I disseminate New Work in civil-society and academic contexts.

Thomas Diener




Thomas Diener has been managing director of FairWork GmbH since 1989.
He is a coach, supervisor (ÖVS), and career consultant with more than 20 years of consulting experience. His core theme is the co-creative shaping of the future. Accordingly, he also works as a facilitator of future workshops, Future Search conferences, strategy workshops, and as a social entrepreneur. In 1993 he won the award for innovative ideas in the social sector from the City of Zurich, as well as several prizes for projects against unemployment. For individual goal-finding in particular, he developed the method mix „Career and Life Navigation,“ which he has taught for more than eight years in various countries and universities. The theoretical foundation of his work is psychodrama and process-oriented psychology according to Dr. Arnold Mindell. There are also similarities to the Zurich Resource Model and to Claus Otto Scharmer’s Theory U.

Since studying economics at the University of Witten/Herdecke, I have been working on professional transitions – for example the transition from university to work, or professional reorientation later in life. I work on this in different contexts: project development, workshops, and individual counseling.

I first met and came to appreciate Frithjof Bergmann in 1988 during my studies. I completed my semester abroad with him at the University of Michigan / USA in order to study „New Work – New Culture“ on site.

After my studies, I developed first project approaches in Germany together with Frithjof Bergmann and accompanied him to many lectures and workshops.

Aim of the 2-Day Seminar

New Work – New Culture is Frithjof Bergmann’s vision for the future of work made real. In this seminar, we show what contribution his philosophy can make to vocational education and professional guidance.

  1. The concept is presented and explained in detail, creating the basis for applying this multilayered concept. At the same time, the differences between Bergmann’s original and what is commonly understood as New Work today are shown.
  2. Methods are introduced that have emerged from the concept and from the work so far.
  3. The special conditions that advisors need to consider in order to convey New Work – New Culture are addressed.

This seminar will sustainably change your understanding and competence around the theme of really, really wanting.

Target Group

This continuing education program is aimed at advisors, trainers, and coaches who support adults in their different professional situations and challenges:

  • advisors working in career planning or as job coaches,
  • advisors who orient or qualify adults professionally,
  • advisors working in university career services,
  • multipliers engaged in the field of work.
